Surfing is quite an old sport and has been practiced since centuries. Of course the first surfers weren’t professional at all and didn’t do the things we see surfers do nowadays. Of course they were still able to move along the water using planks of wood. Today surfing has become one of the most renowned sports and not only that, but also one of the most extreme.
Although surfing is mainly a sport which was meant for men, due to the severe danger of injuries, more and more women try this new hobby and in the end seem to like it very much. Girl surfing isn’t developed for one main reason. There is a big lack of sponsors who desire to invest in this sport. And they are currently right, because there is a low interest towards surfing meant for girls. However, it is expected for women surfing to become a competition for men surfing in the next several years.
Of course the fact that there aren’t a big number of sponsors doesn’t have to make you think that surfing for girls isn’t competitive, extreme and attractive. It is actually a very interesting sport and a lot of the women practicing it can perform some special tricks even better than men. However due to the lack of interest, there aren’t many good women surfers, but there are more and more learning to become the best.
Of course men and women who surf wear different suits. The usual swimwear for men who surf is various types of board shorts. These board shorts are very good and can provide the surfer with the reliability, comfort and safety he requires when practicing his favorite sport or hobby. Women suits on the other hand, have an appearance like ordinary swimsuits - a top and a bottom. However these suits are more secured from falling off and have some other extras too.
And although the swimwear is quite different, the boards are almost the same. The design and appearance can be almost the same for both women and men. However, for women you can find some surf boards which are smaller in size than regular ones. This is due to the fact that women are genetically smaller than man and thus need smaller boards.
Surfing for girls doesn’t mean that such surfers only race women. There are also a variety of competitions which offer both men and women to race with their opposite sex and win some good prizes. Such competitions are becoming more and more interesting. Of course, you are probably thinking that it isn’t interesting, because men always win. However you are wrong. Men win more often, but don’t think that they win easily. Women put up a good fight and don’t let men take the win easily.
Surfing for girls is a sport that is surely going to have a big future in extreme sports. However its development is being slowed down by the lack of companies willing to invest in it.
