The Fun You Can Have On Top Of A Skimboard

You can find quite a few sports that you can really have fun with while in the water, such as water skiing, diving, fishing, surfing and also skimboading. This sport is much like surfing but not as tough as you do not need to ride any waves, but instead you only need to stand on a skimboard and glide along the water right on top of the waters surface as it recedes back to the ocean.

Yachting And Yacht Clubs

As the Dutch rose to preeminence in sea power during the 17th century, the initial yacht became a leisure craft used initially by royalty and then by the burghers for the canals as well as the protected and unprotected waters of the Low Countries. Racing yachts was incidental, arising as private games. English yachting started with King Charles II of England during his exile in the Low Countries. On his return to the English monarchy in 1660, the city of Amsterdam presented him with a 20-metre (66-foot) pleasure boat with a beam (maximum width) of 5.6 m (18 feet), which he then named Mary. Charles and his brother James, the duke of York (James II, reigned 1685-88), ordered for other yachts and in 1662 raced two of them from the Thames, from Greenwich, to Gravesend, and back, on a 100 wager. Yachting became popular among the affluent and nobility, but after that point the trend did not last.
