Getting your certification while you are in Hawaii is not a bad idea. Most scuba diving tour companies also offer the opportunity for you to get certified as well.

Scuba diving in Hawaii is great, mostly thanks to the warm waters surrounding the Island. While out you can see lava tubes, caverns, and arches. Finding spotted dolphins, pygmy killer whales, or whale sharks is not rare. However make sure to have a guide with you at all times just to be safe.

Scuba diving is a great experience for everybody and especially kids. If you were asked to pick the place with the highest satisfaction of life and happiness, where would you choose? Hint: Disneyworld which claims to be the “happiest place on earth” did not make the finals (or the list for that matter). It is officially tropical Costa Rica, winner of the Happy Planet Index as the most satisfying place to live on the planet.

143 countries were rated, covering 99 per cent of the world’s population, for three things: high life expectancy, high life satisfaction, and a low ecological footprint. Costa Rica was clearly the winner—and by a lot.

Essentially, the Index asked: 1. Where are the places with the world’s longest life expectancy ( premise: it is better to live longer than die young)? 2. During one’s lifetime, where are people most satisfied with the quality of their life (premise: living longer but miserably is not very satisfying)? 3. What is the cost to the world’s resources (premise: sustainable development is better than exhausting resources)?

Like me, you probably assume that the most developed nations will come in towards the top but that is not the case. Despite its wealth and power, the United States occupies number 114. England does better but still only ranks 74th.

The difference between Costa Rica and the USA is striking. Costa Ricans live longer than Americans (health care is nationalized, nearly free, and universal in Costa Rica), report much higher levels of life satisfaction (they are very happy with their life), and yet have a carbon footprint which is less than a quarter the size of the States.

It is no accident that Costa Rica is at the top of the rankings The country is committed to sustainable development. While the Western world, China and India are committed to relying upon nonrenewable, nonsustainable resources (think oil) that are exhausting the planet’s resources and contributing to serious global pollution and warming, 99% of Costa Rica’s energy is completely renewable and sustainable. As developed countries dither about how to address power needs and meet the challenges of pollution and global warming, tiny Costa Rica has taken action. More than two decades ago, at a time when so many other countries were cutting and burning their forests, Costa Rica decided to go the opposite direction and now there are 20% more forested areas. Presciently, it has long denied oil drilling off its shores, choosing sustainability over exhaustion. And, in 2007 it became the first country to commit to being completely carbon neutral by 2021.

Costa Rica’s per capita income is only a fraction of that of the United States and other western countries but its ranking at number 1 in all the world is a model to emulate.

This question really does come down to what you are looking for from your beach holiday. If it is surfing and adrenaline beach sports that you are keen on then beauty and tropical islands might not top your list. If you are looking for relaxation and painful beauty then islands groups are probably more suitable. However, forgetting any sorts of considerations, lets just have a quick look at some of the most beautiful beach locations in the world.

First up, we all know that the Maldives is one of the closest places that you can get to heaven on earth that you will ever be able to find. Commonly this has been known as a top location for couples and newlyweds, and it is plain to see why. You are able to relax in one of the thousands of small islands without any hustle and bustle and can simply look out as the sun goes down with other beautiful island droplets in the distance. Truly stunning.

Secondly, the island of the South Pacific will also offer up some dazzlingly incredible beaches for you to enjoy. The island groups of Fiji and the Cook islands are all absolutely stunning and will more than take your breath away when you first see them.

Third of all, the beaches that surround the coast of Thailand and the other countries of Indochina are also absolutely stunning. These are perhaps more conducive to a family holiday or holidays with friends rather than for couples. Getting there may be expensive, but once there you will find that living is cheap and as such can live very comfortable on a fairly meagre budget.

Forth of all, the Whitsundays in Australia. Australia itself has so many beautiful beaches dotted all around its enormous coastline, but if you are looking for true perfection then the Whitsunday islands right at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef is an ideal spot. In particular, the beach of Whitehaven has regularly seem itself right at the top of bolls of the most beautiful beaches and this really has to be seen to be believed.

The list does continue on for as long as your arm and at the end of the day the main consideration you will have to make when choosing where to go will be what you want to do and the budget you have to work with.

These are only a few of the top beach holiday locations in the world. If you ever have the money to see these places, then it is certainly advisable to try to tick at least one of them off your list.

How about going to a vacation spot that is known to have some of the best and most popular beaches in Costa Rica? If you have always wanted to vacation in Costa Rica, check out Jaco.

Located only two hours from San Jose, Jaco is along Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast at the Northern part of Puntarenas province. Though there are plenty of things to do during the day, this is one of the country’s famous “party towns”, well known for the outstanding, eclectic nightlife that you can enjoy on the beach.

Over the years, many tourists have made this a favorite location for their visits, citing its casual, relaxed, laid back, friendly, party atmosphere. There are lots of great beaches nearby, some of which are very tranquil, all of which are gorgeous. Jaco has boomed over the last half dozen years or so. Where there was once a quiet little road (except at night) road through town, today there are towering high rises and resorts, and lots and lots of bars, restaurants, and shops.

Fortunately, Jaco isn’t just a great location for people who have lots of money. Indeed, it caters to any budget. There are hotels and accommodations ranging from luxurious to, well, basic (think hostels with dorms and cold water—but cheap). Restaurants of every kind have sprung up here as well, not to mention tropical bars and taverns.

Though Jaco Beach (directly in front of Jaco) has been one of the most popular beaches for many, many years, nearby beaches (literally just a couple of miles/kilometers away), are much better. You’ll find far fewer people and some of the most ecologically pure water on the planet which have been awarded Blue Flag certifications for cleanliness. If you visit Jaco, I strongly recommend spectacular Hermosa Beach. It is only a couple of miles from Jaco. Though it is not recommended for swimming (due to its currents) it is pristine with some of the best surfing on the planet. Indeed, this July it will host professional surfers from more than 35 countries who are going to take part in world surfing championships (and party at night in Jaco).

There are innumerable things to do during your vacation. Go horseback riding along a lovely beach or visit the nearby river with its huge, famous crocodiles. Zipline through the canopy or try sea kayaking or sailing. Visit Arenal Volcano and sit in the hot springs watching the eruptions. Take a real Swiss train to a real Swiss hotel in the mountains of Costa Rica! Learn to surf or take a Spanish class (some language schools offer surfing as well!). Zipline high in the forests or take a balloon ride over the jungles. There are dozens of different activities close-at-hand where youll have fun or find a romantic place.

And, if you exhaust all the other activities (probably pretty difficult), don’t forget that you can also experience great off shore fishing. The warm, tropical waters are alive with marlin, tuna, sailfish, porpoises, dozens of other varieties, and often whales. But, whatever your tastes, Jaco is definitely a wonderful place to take your vacation.

Christopher Columbus discovered and named Costa Rica 500 years ago, yet every day people discover new wonders while visiting this marvelous country. Though it makes up only about 1/10,000 of the land surface of the planet, there are more species of butterflies here than on the entire continent of Africa combined! One-fifth of every species of plant and animal on earth is here.

Are you tired of playing sports that are not that exciting? Do you seek thrills and exhilaration and want to feel challenged and pushed to your limit? If you think you do, then give extreme sports some consideration.

Extreme sports are activities where there is an element of danger involved. The prominent characteristics of them involve special gear, heights, speeds, stunts, and a lot of physical exertion. They fall into three classification; air, land, and water sports.

An example of an air sport is bungee jumping. When doing this, you will be tied securely with a cord to something that is mounted and also stable. Then you will jump from a high structure, such as a ledge or bridge. There are people that also prefer to jump from moving things like balloons, helicopters, and planes. Some who participate in this also like sky diving.

Another example is hang gliding. Here, you are the pilot and you hang from a hang glider aircraft. You use your feet to launch in the air and this is how you fly and glide. Gliders are usually made of aluminum and fabric. The harness is what secures you and your body weight controls the direction you go.

A land sport to try is snowboarding. This is a good option for people that want to do activities that live in cold areas with snow. You can snowboard on mountains but you are not limited to this. There are three other types to do as well; Dry slope, jibbing and railing, and freeriding. Dry slope is when you go over slopes that were man made. Jibbing and railing is when you go over obstacles and rails, such as ones in parks. Freeriding is when you go over pretty much any terrain you want like a free styler.

Snorkeling is an example of a water sport. Here you get to swim through a large body of water, most popularly the ocean, and dive in with a snorkel and fins. This allows you to see all the aquatic life under water that you do not get to see when on land. Resorts and places that offer scuba diving usually have this activity.

With the knowledge you have on extreme sports now, you should be able to decipher if you want to participate. You can do one despite where you live or the weather conditions. There are hazards, but if you train, wear the right gear, and practice, it can be done safely.

Are conventional sports not that exiting to you? Do seek a more thrilling and exhilarating experience that will challenge and push you to the limit? If so, surfing may just be the thing for you! We have got the inside scoop on surfboard hire and the best surf magazine .
